I was just pulled over for my license plate placement, it's under my seat - using a comp werks kit (600rr). I had no idea it was illegal, I just got back from Honda, Motomethod and ICBC - never once was the kit mentioned and I've been tailed by cops before without a single "cherp cherp".
So.. The bike cop doesn't ask me a thing, just starts writing the ticket and tells me it isn't his fault that I put my exhaust under my tail...
Me - "That's factory placement."
Cop - "You expect me to believe that's where Honda put it?"
[I pull out iphone, google the shit out of 600rr exhaust]
Cop - "Well the position of the plate is unlawful regardless."
Me - "You're telling me you can't read my plate?"
Cop - "That's the same as a taxi cab driver putting his plate on the back of his car seat."
I just stand there... dumbfounded.
Cop - "You can contest it in court but if I see you on the road again with the plate like this I'll impound your bike."
Me - "And you have yourself a great day officer."
Now, I didn't put the kit on the bike - it was there when I bought it. The fine is $240!! In no way is the plate unreadable or hidden, it's straight up - you can see everything without any issues at all. Regardless, it's technically not where it should be so I need to make the change.
I'm thinking I just pick up another plate kit, one that sits under the tail and bring the receipts and the photo to court with me, plead guilty but ask the judge to reduce the fine since I already paid to have the plate moved.
