MST Test

1. ## MST Test

I go to do it on Tuesday. A week from today. Any pointers? I can do the solom with cones 8 footsteps apart. I have a size 9 foot. I've practiced my braking and am confident on my U turns. The only ? I have is about the 3 point turn. What's the appropriate proceadure? Do you leave it in gear when backing up? Both hand on the bars? Thanks guys

2.

3. what 3 point turn?

4. Are you reffering to the "walking the bike" portion at the beginning ?

5. It said on the website they make you do a 3 point turn. I was assuming it was the same as in a car. Pull in at a turn. Back up at a turn and pull forward to complete the turn. I may be Wrong then

6. display all signals and lights working properly
then show hand signals and controls
slow speed (walking pace test)
then U turn in to slalom
repeat
30km/h to U turn to 30 km/h to emergency stop

round of high 5s

7. Make sure you are in first coming to your emergency stop.

8. Sweet man thanks. Should be easy. Anyone know solom distance? Think my 8 paces is close enough togeather?

9. My 8 paces is probably equal to 6-7 ft spacing

10. Your gonna go there and pass, and realize you wasted your time on this thread... its that easy.
Just escorted a buddy to his MST, they only checked that the signals and brake lights worked. No 3 point turns or hand signals (thats the road test)

You walk the bike the speed of the instructor for about 40 feet and you stop on a white square, you clock your wheels to the left and make a half circle, they dial the solom to your bike which is about 1.5 ft in front and behind the wheel. You start again where you started walking, but this time riding, you ride straight, do a left U turn, take the solom, do it the opposite way with a right U turn and hit 30km/h and do a sudden stop without locking your tire up (equal braking), and youve passed.
good luck

11. if you are in a parking lot, and you can zig zag between the lines, you are good. also if you can u-turn inside of 3 spaces, you are good.

12. Id practice slow moving and steering Lock to lock if your worried about it.
If you want to practice U turns, make a mark on the ground put your front tire over it, push your bike to a half circle, make a mark where your tire ends up and add 2 ft. and theres your margin.

13. Easiest way to figure it all out is drive to the place where you are going to take your test and they have the course set up there, watch someone else do it. When I went to do mine, I practised a few times in the lot while I was waiting for someone to come out and give me the test.

It is not difficult as long as you know how to ride. Remember to keep your feet on the pegs, stop in the white square block and don't lock your tire.

Plus a brief right hand turn and, a left hand turn both from stop, very easy. While ICBC's site does say there is a three point turn I didn't do it, nor did I see the dude ahead of me do it..the instructor didn't ask about the hand signals either so, perhaps it varies a little.

Overall, very easy as everyone stated. Had been putting mine off for a while and, I finally took it a couple weeks back, was a breeze. I also couldn't find the specs on the slalom, but I'd say crazyshannon is about right in regards to the parking stall distance. Even the walk the bike part, they seem to give you the option to push the bike while either standing or seating, pointless really.

15. this is what i used to get knowed up and what i show my friends before they take their MST test

THREE PARKING SPOT U TURN

Now you tell me I was trying to do it in two spots and was pissed that it takes me two and a half spots on my bike (big f'n cruiser)
