Hi all new riders!
I just wanted to post up to make sure that you knew about this opportunity to hone your skills in a safe environment. Here are the details:
Our next Pitt Meadows day is on Saturday, August 18th, 2012.
For those of you who are not familiar with what we do at the BC Driving Centre / JIBC site, it is an area for riders to practice in, without concern for all of those obstacles like oncoming cars, dogs, cyclists, pedestrians and other things that get in our way. It's a great place for riders to practice their throttle control, braking, and accelerating skills. We have some professional coaches that you can get feedback from as well. We have space for all kinds of bikes.
We will be using the large tarmac surface so our pre-registration rates will be as follows:
$80 - 1/2 day (9:30-12:30 or 1:30-4:30)
$140 for a full day (9:30 - 4:30 with a lunch break).
If you want to pay at the track on the day then please add $20 to the above fee.
My cutoff day for pre-registrations will be at midnight on August 11th. As you know, if I don't have enough pre-registrations then I may cancel the day but since it's the middle of summer this should be a great day. Please remember, I (and all of the others who organize track days) have to pay for the facilities whether it rains, or shines so we all appreciate your pre-registration support.
SPECIAL (this is the part that you should pay attention to):
For riders who have never been to the Pitt Meadows Track/Practice Day I am going to offer a chance to check things out without the huge financial commitment. I am prepared to offer a first session rate of $20 to new riders. I can accommodate any rider who's interested for ONE session and it would be the first session of the morning. So, if you're a new rider, a seasoned rider, or somewhere in between, please consider coming out for this.
You will have to be on site for the mandatory rider's meeting at 9:00 a.m. (come and register with me between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.) and then you will have at least the first couple of laps with a lead rider. If you would like to stay after this, for the rest of the day or morning, then you would have to top up and pay the "on the day registration fee" of $100 (for a half day), and $160 (for a full day) - your $20 would go towards the rest of the time you choose. I hope that this entices some of you who have never tried these events to come out and check things out. However, if you want to pay $20 now and show up for the first session, you can top up to pay for a 1/2 or full day for $60 and $120 respectively.
At lunch we have our usual lunch offerings - Smokies on the barbie, with a bun, chips and a pop for $5. I will bring H20 for those who are riding there so you'll have some to purchase for $1/bottle on site.
Pre-register as follows:
Send me your PayPal or Interac payment to nej (at) telus (dot) net
I will need, in your message, the following information:
If you're coming for a 1/2 day I need to know if you're morning or afternoon
Your contact phone number
What group you want to start in - Beginner, Medium or Fast , or Racer (ask yourself: 1. have I done a track day before (choose beginner)? 2. Am I a fast street rider (I don't want to hurt my baby, but want to test myself, so choose Medium or Fast)? 3. Am I a racer (I won't worry if my bike goes down)?
