Hitched up with Elevation's ExplOregon Ride,
just south of the border, and headed off into adventure...
Thought I was meeting a small group (5-6 riders pulled
up and off we went)... Was I in for a surprise !
Great group of 25 +/- riders on a variety of mechanized
madness - a variety of skills, thrills and wildly unique
routes to the destination...
Day 1 - 640 Km - 11:00 Hours Google Map
Rode Hwy 9 south, and it was reasonable, and the best bet
to get us south, while avoiding the slab.
South of Enumclaw, 410 was the beginning of the goods...
though there was some traffic, and a few enforcers out
and about - between that and a few GPS mapping errors
and a few wrong forks, group was spread out fairly well
for much of the day.
Spectacular Day With Amazing View of Rainier
Fueled in Randle, along with a very courteously provided
re-hydration - then headed up the bump and grind of
the north flank of the St Helens road.
Spirit Lake Spur Road Overlook
Don't ask what the one rider is/was doing...
Smooth and Twisty - South Side of 410
410 on the south side of St Helens is the real gem
of this day (along with the awesome Spirit Lake Spur
Road) with a variety of smooth cornering
Along the Columbia - and the First of a Few Signs We Missed
Dinner was a great event, on a secluded patio
above "downtown" Hood River... A great end to
a good day.
