change those badges to a bylaw officer or some such shit. why do we need fully pensioned, benefitted, trained in sask officers running around handing out goddamn tickets and shit. take that officers wage, divide into 2 or 3 wages and make handing out tickets and traffic related duties what it really is, meter maiding. have police focus on more serious matters and have them attend all serious mva's and incidents but the normal day to day traffic duty could easily be handled by bylaw officers or positions close to that. you take away the reject officers that got stuck in traffic but still go to work thinking they're going to save the day. no more guns holstered for handing out a fail to yield ticket. i think letting police focus on police things would be better for everyone involved and free up a ton of resources for police. there would also be more profit with less overhead on the traffic detail side of things. just a thought. all i ever hear is that police resources are always stretched, all the while more and more cops on traffic duty seem to appear to raise funds. yes i know not ideal for all situations, but how much nicer would it be to be pulled over by someone with close to no authority and just take a ticket without the stress of watching your every word. i just can't stand the fact these putz's are earning near the same as a cop with actual skills beyond the use of a radar gun.
