6 days and 3800 kms into the most diabolical wandering I've yet done, I find myself in Libby MT - not where I expected to be tonite, but 'swell' anyways. I'm here cuz I spent most of the day riding roads north of here: first 508 50 km from hwy 2 east of Bonners Ferry up to Yaak (posted 70 mph, no traffic, brilliant sweepers, any speed you want...); then 567 50km south to Libby (narrow, rough, enticing, high tension because of possible logging traffic, altho none materialized); then the side-route up the west side of Lake Kookanoosa (deserted - 2 cars in 75 kms - fast, fast, fast, but lotsa corners too, a bit rough - quite demanding overall); and then the eastern end of 508 from the bridge to hwy 37 back up to Yaak (totally intense. 75kms of unrelenting twistiness. uneven pavement. bumpy. incessant 25mph corners on a lane and a half width road. some 15 mph reverse curves.) whew! by the time I got to Yaak, I was - for the first time in my riding career - spent! I had originally planned to ride this out and back, but there was no way I could face it again - or should! tired, kinda hot, just asking for trouble to run the repeat... so I bailed back down 508 to 2, and here I am in Libby.
4 more days of wandering to come... full TR in a week, earthlings!
keep the home-fires burning!
