This was the route http://goo.gl/maps/wtxrT
Had a great time out there yesterday. The kootenays has 10x better roads with 1/10th the traffic of the okanagan, its kind of not fair. Sure does feel nice to get on some smooth pavement after dodging potholes every day. Hwy 6 out of vernon had virtually no traffic, being a weekday morning. The monashes were even a bit chilly which was definitely nice considering hwy33 coming back was like an oven.. Got into Nakusp around 11 so I hitup my favorite deli there for lunch, then i was off to New denver. The road to kaslo was the best part, super twisy and smooth. When i stopped next my knee pucks looked pretty grinded, usually i am too busy dodging craterous potholes to drag a knee hahaha. The trip to kaslo was good enough that ill be doing it again soon.
Next time ill turn around in Kaslo and come back the same way since the second half of the ride involved alot of highway/traffic. I mainly just wanted to do some sight seeing so it was still a good time. Only one rcmp cruiser was seen all day! Thanks to a fellow biker for warning me, his car was parked way back in some bushes on the side of the highway... I nodded my head and received an icy stare lol. At grand prairie it had gotten super hot out especially in full black leathers so i bought more water and cooled off in an air conditioned store before heading down to rock creek for the final leg back to kelowna. Having my camel back was a necessity, i drank 5L of water out of it by the end of the day.
Overall a really fun trip, the weather is perfect right now, and the RR ran good all day. I'll definitely be going back again before the weather gets crappy maybe some people would like to join me next time.
