Tomorrow morning I'm heading out for a solo ride covering WA, ID, UT, CO, AZ, NV, CA, and OR. I'll be traveling counter clockwise on a route that's not yet determined, going wherever the twisties take me. Memos have been sent out for all states to stock up on alcohol & loosely-clad women, and to be on the lookout for a hooligan riding a chariot of pure badassery. Now that you have that image in your head, let's start with some pre-trip planning:
Many nights over the last month were spent researching and buying parts & supplies, scouring ride reports, maps, and running out of beer. I've now got a very rough idea of the route I want to take, and have everything I'll need on the trip (and a ton of what people say I won't - I like my luxuries). I've got exactly 200L worth of luggage, and as of this moment none of it is packed.
Today was filled up with running around looking for last minute items & parts, and hooking up all toys to Space Shuttle Stromtlantis. Radar detector, GPS, and iPhone (w/ Navigon) are all hard wired, with another empty USB port within easy reach. Tank bag is armed with two more USB ports and another two 12Vs for on-the-go charging of camera batteries, Kindle, iPad and Sena headset.
Now that I've finally run out of excuses to delay packing, I guess I better get to it. Stay tuned for photos from random parts of the US over the next month.
