Is it just me or have others noticed (and I really direct this towards ICBC, RCMP, media, BCCOM, Solicitor General, Members of the BC Legislature etc.) that in spite of BC Sport Bikes large membership and sport riding at the “appropriate” times and places; there are very few serious injuries or fatalities from our group. Every week through the riding season there are large numbers of motorcycle accidents involving others, injuries and fatalities involving motorcycles and yet I don't think I can count on one hand the number that have involved members of our group since I joined here in 2005! There may be many impounds and fines for speed offences but very few statistics (of injuries, fatalities and accidents involving other parties) to support these penalties being imposed on our membership.
I have a ton of points to make regarding this anecdotal impression I have in regards to rules and education but no time just now to go further with it. If my intuition is valid; the statistics should be a powerful influence and inspiration to guide the formation of rules and regulations regarding sport bikes, rider education, yada,yada…..
