Saw the aftermath, but didn't get the full scoop. The road was completely blocked off, local reporter for the maple ridge times was already on scene, there were at least 3 ambulances, two fire trucks and 3 ghost cars, and 2 regular patrol cars from what I recall. Talked to one guy that had a montreal canadians tattoo on his forearm saying that he saw the rider earlier before the crash being a dink weaving up and down the road. All I saw were a pair of sandles on the sidewalk, and the person laying on the ground surounded by paramedics had no shoes on. A helicopter (bc ambulance) landed in the adjacent field after the fire crew hosed the soil down to prevent dust from being blown around and he was eventually airlifted to another hospital. I guess it was so bad that the local hospital only 15min away could not help him? He had an iv in on the spot and for a time it looked like they had to do CPR. I believe they had to recesitate him, or he may have been in shock because one had to hold his legs down (that is when I saw the socks). Soooooo.... just wondering if anyone had more info, this hits close to home since it was less than a block from where I live and I ride all the time. If he was a dink, or not it is unfortunate but if someone wants to go all out, they should take it to the track or find an empty parking lot at least. At least ride with /some/ gear. Its the people with flip flops and wife beaters that give motorcyclists a bad name. And of course everyone in my complex that sees this starts talking about how "dangerous" motorcycles are... Especially the wifes saying they aren't going to let their husbands get a bike, and my wife gives me the stink eye..
