    Argo fuck yourself

I just got back from seeing Argo and I was totally surprised.

What a fantastic nailbiter of a movie. It's been a long time since I remember Hollywood pumping out such a great flick.

    I recommend it.

I'm curious - CFR, you said 'proud to be canadian' but i've heard they twisted the story in the movie to make it all "'Murica hurrah" style. Am i wrong?

Ken Taylor had a 'lil chat with Ben Affleck and they tweaked it a bit to reflect the real story somewhat.

Looking forward to seeing this one.

You are correct. In fact the original script had no reference to the truth,,,,[the Canadian Embassy and the fact that without the Canadians this never would have happened] Afleck had to redo alot of it to gain a small margin of reality.

    I'll pass. Afleck's a shitty actor.

They made many points of illustrating how Canadians saved their asses. A big one was how Canadian passports were issued pdq in an attempt to get the 6 out of Iran. There were several references and credit given to Canada for what was done throughout the movie.

    Affleck did a great job.

At the risk of being not as progressive as you, Iran actually is full of bad guys and the overall happiness of the universe would be well served by an American 'intervention'

Any American old enough to remeber is not likely to be fooled. I was on an extended motorcycle trip through the stars when the american hostages were freed by the Canadians and I didn't have to pay for a drink the whole trip. They were very appreciative and also very embarrassed by their own failure with the helicopter rescue attempt that they tried and failed at due to a sandstorm causing the helicopters to crash.
