Well I went out and picked up a 2012 Ducati Monster 696. Been wanting one for a while. Wise? Probably not but I wanted one and that was that. I bougt the demo unit with 1100kms on it with the Termignoni exhaust. I asked the salesman if the exhaust are street legal he said no problem as long as the baffles are in. Fair enough. So I hopped on it and proceeded to ride it home. HOLY CRAP this thing is loud. Sputtering, hollering growlng. It sounded fantastic. Italian Opera as someone else had said. But it seemed too loud, don't get me wrong I love it but I'm not sure. So I wrote the salesman an email and asked if he was sure they were legal. He comes back and says ummm, well, turns out we don't have the baffles in the after all. So I will pick up the baffles and try them and see what the difference is. I don't want trouble from the law and I don't want to piss off the whole neighbourhood. Anyone know how much of a difference the baffles make? I don't want to castrate the sound but maybe lower it a bit.
It rides beautifully. Much shorter wheel base than my SV650 and just feels so much better. It's more than enough machine for me. I'm 40 with 2 kids so I ride pretty conservatively. I keep it insured year round and ride when i can. I had a good time riding today.
Here it is
