Okay, my laptop external speakers started to break down and I decided to repair it, but in doing so I snapped the connection fully and the wires from the plug totally ripped off.
The wire to the 3.5mm plug have a sheathed black and sheathed white wire, and is wrapped in a copper unsheathed stranded wire. I think that unstranded wire is the ground.
Anyways, the 3.5mm male end has three conductive sections separated by two black insulators.
I need to know which wires get soldered to which connections?
