This will be a first class event and would be an excellent Rally for any of you who like to navigate around Montana and get some mighty fine riding accomplished over a
There will be some stock bikes running with rookie riders to some fully farkled LD bikes with serious riders aboard.
I have posted this because Bob & Sylvie include in their Rallies a first timers or new to rallying class. This helps encourage riders who have always wondered about LD rallying to "dip a toe in the water" and try their hand at a Rally where newcomers will be made to feel welcome and in a rally location that is a day ride away from the Lower Mainland.
Happy New Year
We are pleased to announce that GBU II, Into The Unknown (ITU) to be
held August 23rd to 25th 2013 is available for registration at:
ITU is first and foremost a very serious Montana based 32 hour rally
with a staff of twenty highly experienced members . The staff has
ridden more than 30 IBRs and more than 6,000,000 miles and it includes
some of the best known riders and personalities in the IBA.
ITU's rally format is the product of a true master of rally design. Please
refer to the staff section of the website to learn roles that each of
the other staff members is fulfilling. The winner of the 2011 GBU
rode nearly 2000 miles in achieving victory. We expect this year's
winner to equal or exceed that accomplishment.
ITU like its predecessor will have two classes of riders: New to
Sport and Open Class each with a set of requirements to fulfill.
The rally is also intended to be fun for riders and guests who we
strongly encourage riders to bring. In addition, we have opened
registration to those that want to attend and simply hang out with
friends at rally headquarters the four star Summit Hotel at the Big
This group know as Ride To Visit, RTV, and rider guests
will enjoy the benefits of ITU's three Fun Queens who will help them
select from a large variety of resort and other nearby activities.
In addition, riders will have for example the benefit of rally riding
strategy points from the winner of the 2011 IBR, stretching and
exercise instruction from his professional physical trainer wife, and
rider inspiration talks and the rally start by the best in the
business. We are thrilled that ITU's Honorary Chairman, Mike
Kneebone, will participate in the rally activities and present rally
awards and certificates.
Please review the website and ask for clarification of points that are
not clear. The site has links for rally and hotel registration that
should allow you to complete all aspects of joining the challenge,
camaraderie, and fun of INTO THE UNKNOWN.
On behalf of our incredible rally staff, we hope to see you in August.
