Wanderer of the Wastes
I think one day we'll have to make the call on whether we'd rather sit on a bike that does everything for you, or sit in a car that does everything for you. Artificial altruism trumps personal freedoms, everytime.
"I dread beyond all else the growth of the petty tyranny of restrictive legislation, the transference of disciplinary authority from the judiciary to the constabulary, the abandonment of every constitutional safeguard of individual liberty."
I like the idea of this, though I wouldn't want something active that would brake for you. In a car maybe but on a bike that could be just as dangerous. This would also mean 90%+ cars would need this technology - when there's still a lot of old vehicles on the road.
Even now I don't like those sensors that tell drivers when someone is in their blind spot. With that people don't even shoulder check they just assume no one is there because the light isn't on. With this system I could see people paying substantially less attention to the road because the system would warn them/drive for them when there was a problem ahead. In snow condition, would this cause further accidents?
On a different note, any progress with the lane filtering legislation? We haven't heard about it in awhile.
Still waiting, only been since last November so in government not that long...
