On the search for my next bike. Hope to buy in the fall/winter 2013/14.
1) now riding a CBR250r-it is ok for what it is
2)looking for something more upright and better hwy cruising. Mostly short day trips.
Hope-Princeton-Merrit-Spences Bridge etc so runs of around 700km in a day.
want all day comfort. Reliable. Easy maintenance.
been looking at a few options. 1)SV650 (Gladius). 2)Ninja 650. 3)Honda NC700x.
4)Honda 500cc bikes (CBR or 500f)
Also thought of the Yamaha FZ6r and FZ8 but no abs which i think is nice to have.
so now with that said.. reading about these bikes. Are these bikes good the way they come from the factory? So many threads on SVriders - putting in GSX front ends/rear shock. etc.
I can understand with bargain bin bikes (like my CBR) the suspension is of the cheap variety. But on the SV and Ninja? Dont like that i be spending 8-10k on a new bike only to have to spend another few K$ to make the bike rideable.
If i am going to spend upwards of 15k on a bike why not go all out and get something like a Triumph Street Triple R which seems to have top line parts (ohlins?)
The Honda NC and 500's seem too slow and tractor-like and i would probably regret buying one.
are the stock SV and Ninja ok out the door for hwy1 cruising (<40 kph over)
and minor twisties like Sea to sky - manning park - Duffy.
TL;DR - new bikes appear to be unrideable out the door and need $$ in upgrades.
