    So who was it ...

that got nailed with an impound and a zillion charges on the STS the other day, thus gracing the local newspapers today?

I define Hell as having to ride back and forth from Blaine to Tijuana on I - 5 in perpetuity.

Just saw that on the news ... how is that even a story? who gives a flying piece of poop. I see exotic cars driving like morons downtown all the time, not to mention the S2S but if it's 2 wheels then god forbid. What a joke.

A 24-year-old North Vancouver motorcyclist was handed a hefty fine and his bike impounded after he was caught speeding over 140 kilometres an hour.

Squamish RCMP first spotted the man speeding down the Sea-to-Sky Highway on Tuesday afternoon. When he failed to stop for police, West Vancouver cops and an RCMP traffic chopper in the area were notified. The two agencies, with the help of the helicopter, then tracked the rider as he tried to leave the highway and head into the Horseshoe Bay area.

The rider was issued a $1,100 fine, prohibited from driving for 15 days and his bike impounded for a week.

I wonder if the $1100 in fines includes the Drivers Risk Premium on his/her insurance for the next 3 years?

But does this count as news? Speed on the Sea to Sky, garner attention of the law. In other news, grass remains green.

When he failed to stop for police
This is what turns a traffic stop into a news story; two wheels or four.

I'm looking forward to going impound speed at GMR this weekend. (OK, that might be stretching it a bit.)

Or a supermoto; maybe someone let the hooligan attitude lull them into forgetting that no amount of superlative maneuverability is getting a 140 kph bike away from the cops on Highway 99.

Heading home from coffee, saw the chopper flying over the HBA at about 4ish I think. 10 minutes earlier got passed by a guy on sportster doing 130 + (didn't know they went that fast) who I had seen leave squambucks before me and looked pretty young. Thought it was weird that he was passing me after leaving before me (hiding in Lions Bay?) but never thought much of it because I never saw a cop on the way up or down. Must be a slow news day for The Province.

A Sportster doing 140 for a sustained period of time is huge news. I bet it gets into Cycle World.

It's possible he didn't "see" the police. I am assuming there is a reason he was given a fine and 15 day suspension instead of far more serious consequences.

Nah man, he had screaming eagles and lotsa chrome! I hear these performance parts have a more significant impact on HD's than sports bikes.

For the turns in which he was still in view, he had quite a bit of difficulty keeping it in his lane, what with scraping his chrome footpegs and all. He was one cool dude.
