Amongst many pre ride preparations that you should do is to stash some cash or a credit card somewhere else on your person or in your pack or bike. I learnt this the hard way when riding the other day. I got to Cache Creek and went to gas up and no wallet! I had 2 dollars and 95 cents in my pocket. Had driven 116 km to get here from my last time I gassed up. The good fortune of this story is that I called the last place I gassed up after googling on the phone and luckily someone turned in my wallet. They in turn called the rcmp and my wallet was in Merritt detachment. My bike gets about 220 on a tank so I did not have enough gas. Spotted an rcmp speed trap across the street from the Chevron so went to talk to the leo. I was disappointed in his lack of assistance but thankful he didn't try to ticket me for no license no registration after I outted myself for not having id. After getting the runaround with dispatch etc I ended up putting $2.95 of gas in my bike and riding back to Merritt. Lesson learnt.
