Hi, yes I am new here. I hope I have put this in the right forum location.
I, for several years now, have been looking for a comprehensive list of all that is required for building a motorcycle legally in BC, like the inspection standards. I have been told by a few(that I know) people.. well it needs this and that, but no one has any real hard copy inspection standards in hand. They have complete unmodified bikes, and keep it stock.
I however want to build a motorcycle, with a few bought parts like the motor, brakes ect. But moreso from scratch, the frame I want to build myself.
I however cannot find any info on what limits(if any), standards a frame can/cannot have.
For ex. Can I take a "donor" bike frame neck(it has the VIN, Id keep the same motor), and build my frame around that of my chosen design(From what I understand is popular in the US, but here?) Is there a min seat height, what tires do I have to use.....
I have a bunch of questions.. I have called a few shops, most that want to talk say we'll sell you a frame depending on the design, but just come in and well talk.
Well I dont mind going in, but Im not for a sale pitch. I just need info, not comming in to buy, mostly they just dont want to deal with me.
I have tried to talk to the CVSE, ICBC, and both say talk to each other and cant offer an alternative.
I have read a ton of the forums archived threads and nothing really conclusive. I know that there isnt a ton of custom bike builders out there but why am I having a hard time even finding out anything. This would be the second forum I have tried but no luck.
I have looked(on the net) in the states and well I can find alot, Nothing about here in BC.
Can some one direct me to someone I can talk to, Email/phone/in person, that is willing to talk to and educate about the subject.
