Today as I enjoyed the majesty of an early morning tour of the S2S and a warming beverage at the Squamish Starbucks, I found myself perched on the horns of a dilemma and I was unsure of what to do and hope that the BCSB Riding Ethics Oversight Committee can offer a answer to my problem.
Setting the scene
The RCMP were operating a few radar patrol cars on the S2S. All of you please take noteat this new phenomena regarding enforcement.
Motorcyclists of all species except one generally extend to each other the courtesy of "The Wave"
That species is of course the Hog Species also known by it's synonyms boar, cob roller, piggy, piglet, porker, porky, shoat, sow, swine.
For some reason this the BC species of this variation do not participate in "The Wave".
We all know that along with the wave motorcyclists also share the "Helmet Tap" A warning to our two wheeled brothers and sisters that they are soon to be entering an area of motorcycle speed monitoring.
This morning a group of three riders gave me the wave and the last of the three gave me a head tap and a two finger hand indicating that there were two of Canada's finest autograph hunting ahead.
Minutes later I saw the dynamic duo and provided datum to them showing my speed a few kms under the posted limit.
Moments later I was able to reciprocate to three bikes northbound and the rider of bike 3 a BMW GS 800 provided a demonstration of both his front brakes and his motorcycles dire need for better front spring rates and dampening.
Now comes the ethical question, A shoat motorcycle and rider was quickly approaching, I gave the wave and there was no response from old bucket head so I declined the head tap warning of his impending electronic interrogation.
Was I wrong not to warn him, or was my assumption that since he and his tribe have for all intents and purposes left the coven should I shun him in the same way his tribe shuns the rest of us ?
