hey guys, hoping for some advice/suggestions.
02 kat 750. running great all summer, went to start it up last night, turned over 2 or 3 times and then seemed like something got stuck. Seems the starter gear (i believe its called the commutor or something?) is stuck against the flywheel. It clicks but doesnt spin/engage, and when in gear, the rear wheel will not budge - tried push/jump starting it but the tire just skids. so im pretty sure the flywheel is jammed up with the starter.
ive banged on it with a hammer, rocked the bike in gear back and forthe w and w/o clutch engaged, get it loose for a bit but jams back up almost instantly
so i am definitely expecting now to pull it apart and inspect the starter, i think my question is, from your experience, will I have to replace the whole starter or do you think I can get away with just cleaning it up and do a brush replacement kit on it. any other advice would be most appreciated. cheers
