Doesn't look like he was wearing a jacket.
Note to self: destroy the evidence
Condescending much RCMP?
Are investigators allowed to seize and use video recordings if you don't offer your consent? Wouldn't they need a warrant for that kind of thing?
Also it says the motorcyclist was obviously distracted by his 'odometer' (speedometer maybe?) while I agree he could've been looking at it, it can not be proven as his heads down position was most likely a tuck.
I feel bad for the bear. Though that is a road that 110 - 120 seems to be traffic flow, 140 doesn't seem like that much there.
They’re implying that speeding is tantamount to stunting. I’m not saying that this driver in innocent, but to say that riding 140 is a stunt is a tad insulting to my intelligence.
SR number two I believe, Target fixation!
That accident was avoidable.
He should have slowed as much as possible, and aimed for the rear of the animal, instead of locking up and allowing the bear to just run in front of him.
When you see something coming across the road, look for a way around it, not into it. Animals generally will run straight in one direction, with the exception of deer that can turn and run back the same way they came, it wasn't like there was a semi-truck blocking the on coming lane.
If your motorcycle is 30 inches wide? You need 31 inches of room to make it thru. I counted 20 feet.
Anyone with any real training and experience would have not had an issue, even at 140 kph.
As Einstein stated: "All our lauded technological progress -- our very civilization -- is like the axe in the hand of the pathological criminal."
You can argue all you want about how this rider wasn't "so bad" but the fact is the film is all over the mainstream press now and it'll be up there with the Randy Scott one as an example of why "Crotch Rockets" should be banned.
It's not helping the case to get speed limits raised. It's not helping the lane splitting initiative either.
When the only time the general public see's a motorcycle is because the rider has crashed it that gets us all tarred with the same brush.
And I am pretty sure that if the seized camera showed a pickup truck cutting into the lane and causing the accident there wouldn't be any comments that the evidence wasn't admissible.
"To their surprise police observed the motorcycle going for 0 km/h to over 140km/h in less than 20 seconds". In 20 secs, he would have had time to make coffee too.
- Dyslexics of the world, UNTIE!!
So I'm kinda disparaged that this sort of aggressive driving wasn't accompanied with any tickets or did I miss reading that? How are we supposed to discourage this sort of behavior for our children's children? Or even our children's children's children's children? I sure hope he got an impound and a street racing ticket. 140 in my province? I don't think so.
