So, took the bike to meet friends at the beach on the long weekend, and wouldn't start back up when I tried to leave. No juice in the battery at all. No headlights or dash.
Got a boost from a friend's car and it starts. But as soon as we pull the jumper cable, bike stalls. Ended up using a friend's BCAA to get the bike home.
I'm no mechanic, but I'd like yo think I can understand and follow YouTube instructions. So...
Borrowed a multimeter and checked the stator output. All three positions show above the minimum 60vAC at 5000rpm.
Checked the ractifier/regulator on the diode setting. Of the four ways I'm suppose to position the prongs, I'm only getting readings in one of them instead of two. Every other way displays a "1" (open?) When I have the positive prong of the meter on the three ractifier contacts, it will flash a number but then go to "1" immediately.
vDC at the battery jumps to 13.8v with the bike running, but doesn't climb much, maybe to 14.5v (mostly lower) revved to 5000rpm. Manual says output should be 14-15.5v from regulator.
Bike is a 2007, and the battery still says Yuasa. So I'm guessing its original.
So, since the ractifier isn't giving the reading it's suppose to. I'm thinking I need to replace my ractifier/regulator?
Please confirm or advise. Thanks.
