My bike was totaled 2 hours after buying ICBC and Beacon insurance. The other party accepted full liability and I have received a check from Aviva (underwriter for Beacon) for the bike + gear.
ICBC refunded the insurance premium remaining, however Beacon has refused to do so (it's a 1 year comprehensive cover which cannot be cancelled unless bike is sold). The clause they argue is that I can only get a refund if the bike is sold. However, I did sell it to them (signed transfer papers and took a check) in order to complete the claim.
I am at 0 fault (no deductible, no loss on Beacons side whatsoever), ICBC is paying Beacon for the claim completely, and I legally sold the bike to them. Riders, what were your experiences in situations like this?
I'm really disappointed that they would do this when it's clear I'm not trying to sneak out and save a few hundred bucks over the winter. My bike was totalled, I can absolutely no longer ride it, and technically it was sold to them.
