For the experts out there. Can you confirm that there was a Colin Edwards Repilca version of the RC51? What year? Care to take a guess at how many were made? What about production numbers of non Replica versions?
Reason? I've very much respect this machine. It has, as a potential purchaser/owner/collector, at least 3 out of the 4 check points that would make it a consideration for,,,me anyways. It has arguably great looks and audibal appeal without the 'cookie cutter' usual inline 4 sportbike theme. That booming big twin exhaust coupled with it's top end gear drive whine has always appealed to me. It has considerable world championship racing lineage, with direct links to HRC. It is rare by modern production values. Plus, because it was made specifically for racing homologation purposes, many have been binned and sacrificed their lives on the gravel traps of the worlds race tracks. And, it is perhaps at the lowest ebb in value that we may see, at the very least the ones that have not been screwed with cosmetically are not going to get any cheaper.
