When riding on a 3 lane road, like Granville for example, which lane do you usually ride in? Far left, middle or far right? And what lane position do you use?
Reason I am asking is because I go down on Granville, I like to be in the far right lane cause I only have to worry about 1 lane next to me for potential cars that may cut me off and get in. If I was in the middle lane, i have both lanes to worry about. Problem with far right is that there is no good sightlines to the side streets cause of all the trees and buildings, so it makes me a bit worried that a car may come out of a side street and not see me. I ride in lane position 1 (far left) when I am in the right lane to give my self the best view.
When riding in the middle lane I am not sure what lane position to be in. if I am in 1 or 3 I leave one side open to cars merging into my lane. And 2 has all the crap in it so I tend not to ride in it. How do you ride on 3 lane road and what rules do you follow?
