I need a better skid plate for my bike. Dropping +$300 for an aftermarket is an option, but I've been considering doing a carbon fibre one.
I like the looks and the weight loss aspects of c/f. I am aware it won't shrug off severe hits like an aluminum skid plate and will require replacement when it does take a hit so I would be building a few of them. For a mold, I am planning to use the factory one.
For those that have first hand experience in working with the stuff, school me on it. Where to buy, what to buy, costs, mold releases, layering, resin, concerns about strength and health.
Or is this even an option and I should just go with aluminum?
Thanks in advance and be aware if you give me advice, I shall have further dumb questions.
