Hey there everyone,
Sad part: I dropped my bike turning left, checking traffic in front, crazies behind, shoulder checked for cyclists, and didnt see the small foot high meridian till it was too late, I was commited to the turn. Anyways it happened at about 50 kms/hr, nothing fast. I will chalk this up to experience and a bill to cover my inexperience. I scratched the hell out of the front fairings left side and sheared off the shifter peg, otherwise the bike is fine..few other scratches here and there.
Good part: I was wearing all of my protective gear, leather pants, textile jacket, boots, technic gloves and Shoei helmet. The leather pants held up, few scratches on my left knee from the impact. My left wrist is really sore and my right thumb (not sure why) is also sore. No damage was done to my helmet. I walked away from this and then some. Going to be stiff a bit tomorrow but otherwise I'm looking forward to getting my bike fixed....
The lesson: Thank god I was wearing leather pants, the pants have only a scuff on the left knee. the textile jacket doesnt even have a scratch!!! I slid on my left side for I'd guess 20 feet or more, probably more. The gloves held up and have some scuff marks on them too. The only place I'm bleeding from is my left knee where the major first impact happened. I dont have sliders or knee pads in, I was looking at those just the other day This reminds me of the other day when I was at Whiterock a young man was riding his R6 with a sweatshirt on, I'd be one hell of a hurting unit right now if thats all I was wearing today. Anyways ride safe everyone and wear your frickin gear.
