I'll try to be as thorough as I can so please bear with me:
I took the bike out late last night to drop something off at a friend's house only 5 minutes away. (No it's not laziness, I just use every excuse to ride the bike ).
Anyhow, I turned the bike off for nothing more than just 5 minutes (while waiting for my friend to come out) and when I went to restart the bike, it wouldn't start at all; and this is the first time it's happened to me.
As long as I've been using it, I've never had trouble with the ignition, never once have I started the bike and it seemed like it had trouble starting, nothing. But this time, it wouldn't start at all.
All the lights on my dash works, but when I turn on the ignition switch, it won't fire up. I doesn't even make a noise, like a clicking sound like it's trying to turn over; nothing, just dead silent. Only the lights go on.
I tried starting the bike multiple times making sure of the following:
1) Key is turned on
2) Engine kill switch is disengaged
3) Kickstand up
And I tried starting it in gear with the clutch in, or in neutral. Nothing. Thank goodness, my buddie's house in only 5 minutes away, I was able to walk the bike back home.
Now here is the wierd part:
Next morning, I tried start the bike, no go. Same results as the night before. So just to make sure it's not the battery, I removed it, took it to a shop to check if my battery was going bad, and upon checking, I was told the battery is absolutely fine.
Bummed out that it wasn't as simple as that, I just went back home and put the battery in the bike back again and just for shits and giggles, what the heck, I tried turning on the bike again.... And it worked.
The bike starts fine. I didn't detect any signs that it was struggling. I rode it around and everything seemed fine. All in all, everything is fine as if... nothing wrong happened.
Anyways, everything is all fine and dandy now but now it's in the back of my mind that this may happen to me randomly again, and perhaps in a location far more inconvenient than where I was last night.
Anyhow, thoughts? what part of my bike should I be taking a closer look at? Any guesses? Or can someone point me in the right direction with regards to what's wrong with the bike?
Apologies for the long post
