so here's what happened. i was going to change the oil of my bike and store it for winter. started it to warm the oil. got ready to take out the drain plug and i see a drop of oil at the bottom of the oil filter. looked around and could not find any source for the oil. it was dry throughout. checked around the engine case covering the filter and it was dry and no oil. my garage is not heated and it quite cold. it is also unfinished so no insulation on the walls.
would the cold (what we are having now) affect the rubber that seals the oil filter? i'm thinking that's the only place the oil could have come from. maybe the pressure when i first started the bike could have blown oil past the cold seal???? i haven't started the bike in about a month. there are also no drops of oil on the ground.
