I can probably predict that the reasons for most shops closing for the better part of 2 weeks during this time will vary depending on the size and type of shop locally. It is a bit of a curiousity though that a retail outlet would consider such a thing, during these challenging times, especially if a sales crew, paid on unit comission rather than by the hour, would consider opening up the showroom floor on a skeleton staff, with all those motorcycle enthusiasts with rare time off that could 'throw a leg' over a new toy. I bring this up as my mailbox is full of internet suppliers still offering 3 day delivery on Christmas Eve order. Who knows, maybe local shops are doing well enough that closing for up to 2 weeks is not a problem?
I can tell you that my businness does not close for a 1 - 1 1/2 week basis for any reason. The rent has to be paid.
