    *****First Aid Course*****

    First Aid Courses

Well its obvious that riding season is here. We’ve been in contact with St. John’s Ambulance and worked out a deal with them. They have created a lesson plan for us and are willing to teach the course in a variety of locations to be as convient as possible to our members. The course cost is $65 (to be confirmed) and is 8 hours of class time with ½ hour lunch break. Class sizes are from 8 to 12. For those that that live in the nether regions where you cannot meet the minimum class size, they will be offering the Level 1 Basic course in replace of the custom course.

***Note: Since this is a course has been designed for us, it does not meet WCB standards***

    The course breakdown:

    BCSportBikes Custom First Aid Course

    · Shock, Unconciousness, and Fainting
    · Severe Bleeding
    · Cardiovascular Emergencies and One-Rescuer CPR – Adult
    · Two-Rescuer CPR – Adult
    · Secondary Survey
    · Closed Fracture of the Collarbone
    · Dislocation of the Shoulder
    · Closed Fracture of the Upper Leg
    · 30+30+20+
    · Head/Spinal and Pelvic Injuries*
    · Wound Care
    · External Bleeding from the Palm of the Hand
    · Helmet Removal - Information Only

Below are First Aid kits that have been designed for us by St. Johns Ambulnace for our purpose.

What we’d like to do is get an idea as too who is interested and where your from. There are about 30 different branches that St. John Ambulance can teach the course.

If your interested, please post up and choose a Region where you’d like to take the course. If your region isn’t list, PM me and I’ll add it. If your not interest, please choose “I will not attend”.

**Dates are not confirmed. St John's has mentioned that one day weekend courses are perfered. We will confirm dates as soon as we get a head count. We have also discussed that the courses will be ongoing.**

I think this is a wonderful idea, thanks for setting this all up for us.

I have one of those First Aid kits in my car, never had to use it, thankfully.

I assume that one in the picture is the same size, it would be nice, if possible, to have one created that would fit in our bike trunks, or at least one bike in a group ride?

    Anyways, just ideas.

    Count me in, wherever!

    I'm bringing Lisa!

I'm in. The date matters to me more than the location, just another reason to ride...

After I voted then I realize the one in New West is closer for me, but anyway, anywhere in between Coquitlam and Richmond is fine for me!

depending on the time/date, I'd be interested in doing this too.

Hopefully I'd never have to use this training, but it's always best to be prepared for the worst.

Does that kit fit in the trunk of a sportbike?

Also, I think they should add a few feet of surgical tubing or something, you never know when you'll have to tie off an extremety to prevent blood loss while waiting for an ambulence to wind through some back roads. And a lot of people don't have their belts with them if wearing leathers.
