If you're thinking of buying accounting software STEER WELL CLEAR of Intuit Quickbooks. Going through another update nightmare.
Twice a year they update their tax tables and the upgrade always fails. Our bookkeeper has been on the phone for 3-4hrs already talking to the third customer service person. They've tried remote access and have the same issue we do with the upgrade.... and how many companies are behind only one or two firewalls. There'd be no way they could do that at my wife's work... they are locked down.
Damn software won't talk to their file server so upgrade fails. Of course the old tax tables don't work so you can't do any payroll. Why can't you just do a goddamn simple file download for the upgrade, install and off to the races??? Everything is a freakin 50kb download initiator and the rest it pulls off a remote server. What a joke. Their programmers and managers should all be fired. If a windows update was like this Microsoft would be broke by now.
Quickbooks is on par with ICBC and BC Hydro... bloated, inefficient, wasteful and in need of a 3rd party audit.
Long time ago we used MYOB. Worked fine, except Intuit bought them out. Doh.
Not only does Quickbooks cost around $500 depending on the type for the initial purchase but a couple hundred every year for updates.... it's garbage.
