As most of us wait in agony for our weather to turn, affording us enough daylight and >10C temps to make a 12 hour day-ride on the bike enjoyable, I thought I would remind folks what most ride organizers (including myself) consider unacceptable when showing up for a full day ride.
First, lets start with what I call a "Shitter-Bike". These are bikes in a poor state of maintenance, and have a high probability of breaking down during a 500km-800km day-ride. They cause unnecessary grief for the group, and more often than not, significant delays in getting home. Behold......
Classic indicators include a chain that drags on the ground
General crappy chain maintenace
A basic lack of knowledge about routine fluid level checks
Or this tasty treat
Yup, seen tires like this show up
Um, yeah.........no one can concentrate on their ride while staring at your naked ankles. No Pumas! F-A-I-L !
And my favorite..........the Flappy pants!
