My carbs have a little over 200k on 'em. The bike clearly runs rather rich, judging by the lingering exhaust smell. I'm guessing the carbs could use a cleaning, and there are likely some "wear" items that could be replaced when they are off. I'll definitely be replacing the carb boots that connect the carbs to the intake.
It's going to be fun to remove/install these carbs, so I want to do it right the first time. Should I be assuming that rebuilding is in the cards at this mileage and just order the parts? My thought is "Yes." Am I better off to get a low-mileage set and clean those instead? What looks to be a nice used set of carbs seems to run $150-$200ish on Ebay.
