my CB1000R has a very-hard-to-read LCD tachometer, which is essentially impossible to make out when using a tinted visor. so, at track days, I find myself 'searching' for the right time/ revs to shift. also, the exhaust is rather quiet too, so that's not quite as powerful an indicator 'note' as it might be. most times I reckon I shift under the ideal point - now and again I hit the limiter, which is certainly not the most efficient way around a track.
I'm considering an LED shift light, like this:
so, experienced track riders / racers, what do YOU do? learn it by ear? glance at the tach (can't imagine that - there's so much going on, and you need your eyes on the track). use a shift light, in your peripheral vision? other???
thanks, cheers, Don
