If it is true I wouldn't get too exited about it. Automotive applications using direct injection (Lexus, Toyota, BMW) are plagued with high carbon buildup problems in the intake tract close to the combustion chamber. It's a promising technology but it's by no means perfect or problem free yet

Worst april fools plug ever.
It's not super high maintenance, after 7 years I just had to put $1500 preventative maintenance, timing belt, HPFP cam follower, but it's been great. I'm not sure if its the turbo (1800 rpm>) or the direct injection but it gulps gas. Gotta pay to play.
