Beware all you beef lovers . . .
Today the Minister of Agriculture, Lyle Vanclief, announced at a press conference that a single case of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) or "Mad Cow" disease, has been discovered in Alberta.
The animal was not processed into beef and was condemned. The farm of the animal's origin has been quarantined. Since 1997, Canadian regulations have banned the feeding of products containing cattle remains, back to the cattle. This regulation significantly reduces any potential spread of the disease.
Hope this doesn't ruin what could be a great season of barbequing!
