Beck Arnley brand head gaskets input pls
I'm replacing my head gasket and have a Beck Arnley brand one on hand. Some say use Felpro or OEM, I believe the blown one (lasted 4 years) is a Felpro. It is my belief it let go between 2nd and 3rd piston. My question is has anyone had bad experiences with B.A. I don't want to do this again next month. Cheers, S.
Btw I had the head machined 4 yrs ago and will look for cracks or warping prior to install.
Beck Arnley made the valve cover gaskets for my Toyota 4x4 that was notorious for leaks there. Stopped the leaking, no issues until I sold it 2 years later. Same deal for the front/rear crankshaft seals, and front/rear differential gaskets.
Every other part I've used of theirs has been reasonably priced and properly fitted. They also seem to have pretty good quality control (ie: nothing I've gotten from BA has ever been wrong/craptastic. Can't speak for head gaskets specifically though.
Keep in mind BA buys and resells components from other factories. In some cases, you may actually be getting an OEM component through them (which in the Toyota's case was a good thing for me).
I think you'd be fine with them. What is the price difference with OEM?
Not sure on price diff. I ordered a kit awhile back when I was doing my valve cover. Turns out I needed a head gasket, though through no fault but my own. I did not re-torgue it 4 yrs back, turns out I was supposed to after about 500km. Oh well, live and learn.
Come on, 4 years for an improperly torqued headgasket isn't bad!
