I'm trying to figure which thread to put this in..and Q & A seemed the most appropriate.
I'm planning to head for a weekend ride with my wife in Washington (riding pillion). Our single goal is to ride the SR20 North Cascades Hwy..but we need a route back (I've ridden the SR20 before, but it's time to do it again). I'm keen on seeing new roads and not taking the Osoyoos/Manning Park way home. Have others here gone south at Winthrop down to Wenatchee and taken Hwy 2 West?
I could do a long day myself, but I'd like my wife to have a good time being on the back..so I'm thinking of stopping at a halfway point. Is Winachee a good place to stay for the night?
Any recommendation on the loop would be appreciated. I'll be taking slight side routes, like Chuckanut in Bellingham, and the South Skagit Hwy between Sedro-Whooley and Concrete. Coffee in Mazama just west of Winthrop has been suggested. Also, looking at a map, the 97 Alt looks more appealing then the 97 (area between Chelan and Winatchee)
