I've been looking at adding a second vehicle to the car hold as it's getting tough to share just one with the boss. Buddy of mine is an avid rider and dropped the motorcycle idea on me. Dismissed him at first but on second glance the economics look interesting.
Looking at a 30 km round trip commute in Richmond, year round. $1000 for pacific riding school, my buddy insists. Most interesting bike looks to be a Ninja 300 ABS.
My riding experience consists of 50cc minibikes and scooters, and a little bit of quadding.
- Is it realistic to ride year round in the lower mainland? Parking at home is indoors, at work is outdoors. I'm not afraid of the weather, just concerned for safety and bike health.
- $1000 for school, $500? for clothing, $5,000ish for a bike? Am I missing anything? Tank of gas looks to be worth 15 round trip commutes, insurance around $100 for 10 year safe driver?
- Was looking at a CBR but bike recommendation threads here seems to point away.
- Looking at used VS new prices for a 250-300, all I can think is 'why would anybody buy used?' Extra $1,000-1,500 for brand new and no service headaches? Is that foolish?
