On my Saturday ride, I came upon several corners with pea gravel in them. I'm not too embarassed to admit that a few times I panicked and stood up a little on the brakes before collecting myself and looking through the turn. One time on Coldwater Road was particularly bad, and I thought I was done for. Fortunately I managed to find my focus before I fixated and ran right off the road.
Doubling back on the road I was a bit of a nervous nellie going into the corners, and if I saw gravel ahead I was slowing substantially.
So what to you do? I've run over gravel a few times and I could definitely feel the rear tire step out, which is what makes me nervous to begin with. How do you handle it? Do you try to steer around it? Do you just stick with the corner and let the rear slide a little (or a lot)?
