It was a long time in the making, and well worth the wait. We arrived at the track on time and in good shape, the trip down was another story? They had a very nice Breckey laid out for us to graze on,but I opted out(couldn't afford the weight gain)after breakfast, they laid down the ground rules, and there were load's of em. #1 nothing to exceed 90 DB.....WTF I can yell louder than that? #2 Do not, I repeat do not stuff the camera guy(the guy taking video) #3 don't stuff any of the staff......what did we come here for? #4 no American jokes......fuckem I told 1 or 2 any way's lol. They told us to take 2 lap's to get our tires up to temp......ya right. We finally get out on the track, and I can't believe it's so wide.....till your going fast.....then it's sooowwww narrow? Cant afford to crash so tap it cool I say to myself, with a pack of testosterone filled fool's behind me,through turn 3 nice turn I say to myself, can't wait to hit this one at speed.Turn 4 another nice easy right hander with load's of acceleration room at the end of it. Turn 5 ,left hander up hill, cool , I like that one ! Turn 6,left hander, you'd better make this one ,kuz there's nowhere to run off. Hard on the gas up the hill to the CORKSCREW......shit ,it look's like your heading into a cul-de-sac,but wait ,there's an exit on the left, hard left, hold breath, fuck, right over the rumble strip on the inside of the exit(don't......I repeat....do not touch the brake's) man that was close. Down hill to the front straight with a couple of fast turn's thrown in so ya don't fall asleep. That my friend's was lap 1. Lap 2 through 10 were getting considerably better with track acquaintance. We ended up lapping a couple of guy's on the next time out, good to see that ,at least I'm not the slowest guy out here(not that it matter's) a couple of AMA guy's were there testing, and they were the one's to follow and chase down.....no luck.
On the 3rd session, I was passed buy a guy named "EATON" then 5or 6 lap's later he lapped me? Who is this guy I'm thinking? I went over to his pit ,only to find out he's 15 1/2 year's old.....pimpled faced little MF Good on ya I said to him,and turned to go back to my pit and hang myself in my trailer. Eaton.....watch for him next year ,when he's legal to race.
The rest of the day was pretty much a learning experience, except on the last outing ,one of my buddies binned it in the Corkscrew....well if your gunna bin it at Laguna, you may as well do it in the Corkscrew, he cam out alright, and the bike looks a little bent up in places, but it could have been worse?
The sound booth guy's were kept busy with Black flagging every other rider out there, and especially my buddy with the 600 RR Honda with a full Aka system, but last session,no body cared much what they were waving flag's about, till they closed the coarse on us to tell us about the noise we were making was 1.6 or .8 or 1.3 above what was allowed......who gives a rat's ass at this time.
Jack Chang took some great footage on his vid cam,and I'll put it on my site for those who want to see it.
these link's aren't up yet,but will be in a day or two.Enjoy
