Just came back from doing my 1st Duffy loop.
Went Pemberton-Lillooet- Cache Creek-Boston Bar-Hope-Vancouver
678KM total. Longest ride I did so far. Did it by myself as it was 1st time doing that route, and I wanted to go at my own speed, stop when I wanted, grab food when I wanted and get gas when I wanted. Took me total of 10.5 hours, including about 1.5 hours of gas/break stops and lunch. Almost no traffic between Pemberton and Lillooet/ Lillooet and Cache Creek. Few cars here and there, but I never gut stuck behind any vehicles for more then few minutes.
Wish that we can start straight at Pemberton or Lillooet, instead of driving few hundred K to get to the good roads. No problems of any sort other then unexpected gravel for few hundred meters about 15K outside of Lillooet towards CC. Over whole road (both sides), and signs on the road just before gravel starts. Saw it just in time and bike was straight when I went into it, so no issues thankfully.
Stopped at Fat Jack's for lunch. Good place. I was only person inside other then few people working. Owner was blasting Black Sabbath and said I dont have a choice, so i have to listen to Sabbath. When i told him Sabbath was one of my favorite groups and that was more then fine with me, he was quite happy.
Overall, a really good ride. Would post pics, but most know what it's like.
Now one thing I was wondering, why is it called Duffy loop, when Duffy lake is only several K along the route. There are plenty of other lakes as well, so why specifically Duffy? Inquiring minds want to know haha.
