What’s the infatuation with Chicken strips. People read too much into them. They are not an indicator of competence. You are not necessarily a poser because you have a nice bike with chicken strips. Their width is not inversely proportional to your dick size. Different tyres have different profiles. The rim size that it is fitted too and the pressure it is run at affect the profile of any tyre. Some tyres need to go over a long way before you reach the edge, others will look used at moderate angles of lean. So what!!
Quite frankly, when I see tyres on a road bike that are cooked to the edge, I know I don’t want to be anywhere near that Pilot when he/she is out and about. The highway is not the place to be testing the envelope. Modern tyres stick like shit to a blanket, but no tyre can find much traction through gravel sand or dust. On the road, unlike the track, you haven’t pre run the next corner you’re approaching. It’s a crap shoot and if you’ve narrowed your margin by committing to a knee down corner speed, you’ve got nothing left if you come across the unexpected.
PS. Yes I have chicken strips. I have never been to the edge of any of my tyres on the road.
