I put this trip together for me and the gf to do some riding and some hiking/sightseeing over the course of six days. One of the challenges I faced in putting a route together was avoiding long days but for a few days it simply wasn’t possible if we wanted to be able to fit in the non-riding parts of the trip in the time allotted. It would have been nice to have a bit more time, but overall I was pleased with the way things went.

The trip started with only a half day as I had to work until noon. The goal was to catch the 4pm to Port Townsend so I could fit in a rip up Hurricane Ridge on the first day to leave myself more travel time on the second day. The bike was packed and ready to go the night before except for one critical and one semi critical item - this meant a return home from work and ultimately missing the 4pm ferry and having to catch the 6pm. The ride on the ferry was nice with the clear weather and I still managed to fit in a run half-way up HR to get a taste for a road I’d heard lots of great things about. With my appetite whetted, it was off to the hotel in Port Angeles to check in and then go grab some dinner.
