Check out condition and how many previous owners each bike has had. Get someone with good knoledge of sportbikes to test ride the bikes. THing is you'll probably need to pay the cash up front then the owner will probably let you give the bike a ride. I don't know many people that would let you ride the bike their selling without putting down money first.

GSXR! Of that era the gixxer outhandles it by far. 98's when the kawi started to get better. 96 has that black exhaust, ech!!, and the smaller opaque headlight, and there's the old kawi green on it. I'm not too fond of white & blue but its better than the kwak colors. Also has that boxier tail on it (vs sharper more modern tail on 98 zx6r's. Also a lot easier to find spares and extra parts for the SRADs gixxers on ebay, gixxer.com, wera.com, locally. I've owned both the kawi (98) and the gixxer (99). Prefer the gix. But the kawi is more comfy, more midrange?.

    Stick with the Suzukis, bro.

Well..put it this way... If suzuki bikes (GSXR) feel right when you sit on them= like you're not aching.- get a Suzuki.

The GSX-R line is dynamite. The company's proved not only it reliability, but it's foresight- Stock steering dampers, FI 2 years before Honda/Yam/Etc.

In my opinion Nothing beats the styling of the gixxers either.
Yamaha is very sexy and comes close, honda's intakes mess up the nose, and kawi...*...*

You will not be unimpressed with purchasing a gsxr.....anything else...well, it's not a gsxr

I re-read the article and two things struck me as odd. "The nail in Kawasaki's coffin comes from the price tag. At $8299 it's $500 more than the second most-expensive bike, Honda's CBR600F3 -- and a whopping $900 more than Yamaha's YZF600R."

Bike have gotten better, the prices have actually come down even if you don't factor in inflation.

Two: the kawi turned an "incredible 10.79 second run at 126.78 mph."

Either this was a ringer (it dynoed at 92HP), or the kawi has a really stong motor.
