This is one reason not to take the car.
The oil-rich state of Dubai is offering people gold if they take public transportation, the Gulf News reported.
The emirate is giving away almost nine pounds in gold to those who ditch their cars and take the bus instead.
It is part of Public Transport Day, an event aimed at luring people into mass transit and "shun reliance on private vehicles and switch to using public transport," Dr Yousuf Al Ali of the Roads and Transport Authority told the BBC.
Dubai has huge traffic problems and one of the highest car ownership rates in the world with families averaging 2.3 cars per family.
The gold will be handed out through raffle drawings over the course of a week.
In total, prizes worth almost $275,000 will be given away.
