So it was my brothers grad yesterday (fri 13th) we live on the island near the ferries around Victoria,
the ceramony went well and so did the dinner dance. My dad used to be a teacher at the school until last semister when he retired. Anyways he was helping out with the after party last night which they hold at a undesclosed location so the kids cant drive then and drink and drive home. Everyone must take a bus from a specific area.
Anyways late in the night my brothers friends mom was heading home along a windy road at the indian reserve on west saanich road. There is a pritty nasty corner which comes down from a long long straight strech. She came around the corner to see a black streak flash infront of her. The person in the car infront (a fire fighter dressed in a Elvis impersonator suit, he was doing things at the party, he was also a fire voulenteer) anyways he cam running up and said do you have a phone. She said yes and he said phone 911. She asked why, he said didnt you see that car smash into the trees and flip?
She called 911 then her husband who was with my dad at the party. They were not sure if the kids at the party were involved in this sad sad car crash. They jumped into a truck and picked up another fire volunteer. On the way there they almost ran over a passed out student in the middle of the road. They picked him up and threw him in the cab then headed to the accident. There were police at the party which was only 4 minutes away but my dad and the other 2 were the first to get to the scene to help.
When they arrived they saw a male kid with blood all over his face telling ppl that there was more ppl in the car. They went down and pulled a girl out.
My dad and the elvis man tried to get the ppl from the back seat but they couldnt. My brothers other friends dads who are in the fire dept showed up and ended up taking the ppl from the back with the jaws of life. My dad was really shook up along with eveyone else. A man came to the scene and got out of his car, absolutly pale and asked if these were the kids from the grad party. They told him no and the man was relived.
I know that at least one, the male in the back is now dead and the others are all in extreme conditions in the hospital.
I have writen this tread to give my sympathy to the family and friends of the victims. It is just sad how 3 of the ppl were graduating on the 27th and now they may not make it.
Though they belive that alcohol was a factor along with speed I felt so bad as I did not know where my brother was while I was at work and was told the news. One of my co workers found out that they were her friends and she was destraught. She took the day off and left.
In final thoughts I give my sympathy once again to thoose who are affilited with the victims I hope they are able to pull through.
I will keep eveyone posted with the info that I will aquire.
Everyone graduating please take it easy and do not drive after drinking.
