I got my motorcycle insurance through Beacon yesterday and after they asked me the model bike I have, she refers to another page and spends some time looking. I asked what she is looking at and she shows me the bikes that Beacon does not insure.... and it's a lot. Pretty much any sport bike. I have no idea there was a black list: I just thought the rates would be very expensive.
The other thing I learned, Canadian Direct will not insure anyone for MC insurance with a claim within 5 years. Made a claim on my truck's tailgate and bumper after my utility trailer hit it (completly my fault): now I don't qualify for MC insurance. I didn't think Canadian Direct would meet Beacon's MC rates but I didn't expect to be refused insurance outright. Even weirder, they didn't raise my truck or home insurance rates because of the claim. Because I overloaded my utility trailer: I'm a risky MC rider?? Weird connection.
